Overview
The M6toll website was the first digital product to showcase the newly designed brand identity for the UK’s major toll motorway. My role was to design a modern, user-friendly website that reflected the refreshed brand while improving information clarity, usability, and key customer interactions such as account management and journey planning.
Challenge
With the launch of a new visual identity for M6toll, the team needed a digital platform that not only reflected the updated branding but also served a wide range of users, from regular commuters and business drivers to occasional customers. The challenge was to balance a strong brand presence with clear, task-focused user journeys and seamless access to core services like toll payments, account sign-in, and customer support.
Approach
I began with brand immersion and stakeholder workshops to fully understand the goals of the new identity and how it should be expressed digitally. User research and analytics helped identify priority user flows and pain points. Information architecture and navigation were redesigned to make essential tasks faster and more intuitive. High-fidelity UI mockups were then developed to bring the brand to life online with coherent visual language, typography, colour, and imagery. Prototypes were iterated based on feedback and usability testing.
Solution
The final design delivered:
A refreshed, brand-aligned digital experience that strengthened M6toll’s new visual identity
Clear, intuitive navigation for key tasks like toll payments, account access, and journey information
Responsive layouts optimised for mobile and desktop users
Improved accessibility and user guidance through forms and service pages
